Los Angeles

Los Angeles is such a beautiful and wonderful city.  However, let me just start by saying that I would never in my life live there.  Unless of course, I was a Hollywood star and my career consisted of moving.   The reason I would not want to live there is TRAFFIC!  It took me 1 hour, literally 1 hour to do 7 miles.  I mean seriously?  I would have thought maybe 20 or even 30 minutes for 7 miles.  But 1 hour? I think I’ll be traumatized for life.  Other than traffic, I have absolutely no complaints and fell in love.  I did not think LA was expensive, I thought it was pretty reasonable.

On Thursday, I went to Rodeo Drive and Acabar.  Acabar is a restaurant, bar & lounge located in Hollywood and it is stunning.   The decor of this place is so beautiful that it is jaw dropping.   Acabar’s interior decor is an exotic Moroccan style and is a very classy destination.   The service was absolutely superb and their food was incredible.  Their drinks were fantastic and their happy hour menu was perfect.  I tried two different appetizers; chicken tikka and crispy shrimp toast.  Can I say mouthwatering?  The chicken tikka had hummus at the bottom and it was amazing.  The crispy shrimp toast did not look like shrimp but it tasted so delicious.  I wish I would have placed 2 orders! If you ever go to Acabar this is a must try!  As my entrée I had a snapper with purple chips.  The snapper was cooked perfect!  I also tried the short ribs and they were amazing, tender and sliding off the bone.
On Friday, I went to Universal Studios to be a big kid.  I will never get too old for Universal Studios or any other amusement park.  Universal did not have that many people on that day and I felt lucky.  I started the park at 9:00am and I finished it at 3:30pm.  I did the entire park! Well except Jurassic Park because it was closed for maintenance.  I absolutely love Universal Studios and it is so much fun!  My favorite attraction is the Mummy and my favorite show was water world.
On Saturday I had a relaxing day.  I went to Venice Beach for a peaceful environment as well as some drinks.  Venice Beach is definitely a great place to go.  Walking the boardwalk is fun and if you love people watching it is great!  This beach has tennis, skating and muscle beach.  There is just so much to do! Especially if you like to work out, this is the place to be.  I also went to Cabo Wabo and the drinks were  big, delicious and the service was awesome.
Sunday was the last day and I was pretty bummed about it.  It was almost time to leave!  So of course I couldn’t leave Los Angeles without trying Roscoe’s House of Chicken & Waffles.  Roscoe’s is not as good as people say it is.  It was pretty good but it wasn’t THAT GOOD.  Breakfast Klub in Houston, TX is waaaaaaaaaaaaay better.  Did I say way better?  Anyways back to Roscoe’s.  My favorite dish at Roscoe’s was macaroni and cheese.  However, everything was pretty good with the exception of the Waffle.  I did not like the waffle.  It tasted like something I buy at Walmart in the freezing department.  But hey, next time you are in LA, you be the judge.
Lastly, I took a tour of Paramount Pictures.  It was so much fun learning how they make movies.  They tell you what is truly filmed and what is just digital.  However, it kind of ruined my movie experience.  Now every time I am watching something I am wondering if it is real or not.  I really thought everything was more real but apparently mostly everything is digital now.   Anyways, it was still a great tour and we were able to see the stage for insta mom.  It was pretty cool to see how everything is set up and how they record while they have a live audience.
