For the past 2 years I have been going to New Orleans for Labor Day. However, this time I decided to go somewhere else. I live in Houston, Texas but never travel within Texas because I rather go to different states. Therefore, I decided to visit Austin, Texas this time around. I absolutely fell in love with Austin. I can't wait to go back! I love Sunday Funday so I went to 6th street. I mean, I can't go to Austin and not go to 6th street right? My first stop was the Nook for some drinks which by the way had great music and the drinks were super affordable. But, there were not many people there. My second stop was POP. I absolutely loved POP! The atmosphere was amazing, the people there were extremely nice, and I met some very cool people. Mimosas there on a Sunday are delicious and super cheap! I also tried their chicken and waffles sandwich and a salad which weren't that good and it took forever. Since I didn't finish the food, I decided to go to a food truck. I had some brisket tacos and Ceviche. The food was actually delicious. But I will say the next morning I was a bit sick. Maybe it was the Ceviche? I actually think it was the ceviche although it was so good. Maybe it was the raw fish in it? I don't know but I couldn't tell when I was eating it.
While in Austin, I went to Zilker Park. I wanted to go see Barton Springs Pool. What a gem! It is extremely gorgeous and jaw dropping! The water is usually between 68 to 70 degrees. Perfect place to cool off! The next time I'm in Austin I want to go to Hamilton Pool. Austin had beautiful hidden gems!
I also went to Jack Allen's Kitchen because it has high ratings and I've heard great things about it. I tried the chile mango shrimp tacos, the chicken fried beef ribs, the sloppy jack and the macaroni and cheese. Yes, I know it's a lot of food and no, I didn't finish it all. The people sitting next to me where looking at me crazy! However, I had to try it all!!! The food was delicious!!!! I can't complain about anything. I've never heard of chicken fried beef ribs so I was skeptical, but they were exquisite. Next time I am in town I want to try Franklin's BBQ! I hear is to die for.
